Chairman, Ondo State Agricultural Commodities Association (OSACA), Mr. Oluwagbemiga Obaweya on Monday 14th November led key members of the Association on a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Sam Erejuwa.

The visit was aimed at familiarizing the Commission with the activities of the Agro- Association, and to commence the process of partnership for mutual benefits and sustenance of corporate goals through massive investment in agriculture.

Erejuwa who received the visiting team in his office lauded the Association for its contributions to the development of the agricultural sector of the State. He acknowledged that the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is committed to the task of making food available to the residents in every nook and cranny of the State. This he said has necessitated the Governor’s huge investment in agriculture.

While responding, OSACA Chairman, Mr. Oluwagbemiga Obaweya appreciated Sam Erejuwa for the warm reception. He said the visit was aimed at intimating him about the activities of the Association, especially in the areas of training farmers and revolutionizing agriculture in the Sunshine State. Obaweya also revealed that the Association also seek for the partnership of the Commission so as to record more success in improving the lives of the people of the mandate areas. He identifies Agriculture and massive food production as one of the key ways of impacting more on the lives of the people in the coastal areas of the State.

He stressed further that agriculture has the potential of doing very well in Ondo State if properly supported, and if the people are well guided. According to him, the State has unique vegetation and climate across the three senatorial regions (the south, central and the north). This has made it possible for various crops to be successfully cultivated across the State, depending on their required climatic conditions.

Speaking with our Correspondents after the interactive session, Mr. Obaweya expressed hope that the partnership will be of immense benefit to the Commission and the people of the mandate areas.

“We are here to begin a partnership with the Commission because we know part of the mandate of the Commission is to improve the lives of the people in the Niger Delta region. Agriculture is one of the key ways of achieving this. We are also here to introduce OSACA (our umbrella body) and what we do to the Chairman (and the Commission). We organize training for farmers and assist them in overcoming their challenges. Today, we are proud to say there is tomato and onion revolution in Ondo State. OSACA has made the cultivation of these crops which we thought we are not traditional producers (but the northern part) possible.” Obaweya said.

The Association during the visit also intimated and invited the Chairman to the Second edition of the Ondo State International Agric. Show and Food Fair (OSIAFFA) scheduled to hold between Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th November, 2022 at the International Culture and Event Centre, (The Dome), Alagbaka, Akure, requesting for the Commission’s support for a successful outing.
