Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Transportation, Barrister Tobi Ogunleye on Tuesday 1st November paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Sam Erejuwa in his office.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the collaboration between the Commission and the transport section of the Ondo State Government to enhance rapid and impactful development in the Coastal region of the State.

Tobi Ogunleye commended the Commission for its laudable projects in the mandate areas, especially in making the waterways free and safe. “Transportation is all embracing and not limited to the land. We know one of the fundamental mandates of OSOPADEC is to make the waterways free. We want to exploit the robust opportunities in the coastal region of Ondo State. However, we cannot achieve this without the collaboration of OSOPADEC”, He said.

The Governor’s aide further revealed that while exploiting the opportunities inherent in the Coastal region and the waterways, the youths of the mandate areas will also be empowered for self-reliance through the provision of tricycles and other empowerment packages.

Another area of attention was the re-training of the Commissions drivers at the State-owned transport institute in Oba-Ile. Barrister Ogunleye hinted that the institute; managed by the State Ministry of Transport is the first of its kind in Africa. He said the facility is aimed at equipping road users, including riders and drivers with basic skills to ensure road safety as not all drivers and license carriers are fit to ply the road.

Ogunleye used the opportunity of the visit to advertise to the Chairman a unique self-detonating fire extinguisher. He said the self-propelled safety device is a product of the Ministry of Transport, safe and ideal for vehicle and domestic use.

While commending the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led-government for its relentless efforts to make the roads free and safe for all categories of users, OSOPADEC Chairman, Sam Erejuwa assured that the Commission will not deviate from the REDEEMED Agenda of the present administration.

Erejuwa gave the Governor’s aide an assurance of the Commission’s commitment to sustain the existing collaboration and make the developmental plans achievable.
